Puy Lentils
Here is a recipe for Puy lentils that my friend and employer in London, Victoria Fairfax shared with me. Victoria grew up just outside of Paris in a house once owned by Alexandre Dumas, author of the ‘Count of Monte Cristo’. Tres romantique non? This is a French peasant dish and it is simple yet superb. Maybe a bit wintery for now but this weather isn’t co-operating much so just go for it! Bon Appetite!
Vicky’s Puy Lentils:
Puy lentils, 1 onion, garlic, carrot, vegetable stock, chunks of ham or lardons of bacon, lots of thyme (lemon thyme is super good)
Fry Onion and garlic in butter or oil until clear. Add about 1 cup of water and vegetable stock, thyme, carrot, ham and salt and pepper with lentils (soak those quickly first). Cook for appx 40 mins until water is gluggy and lentils are al dente. Serve as a side (without meat) or as an entire dish with meat.

Spelling disclaimer: spicey or spicy – both correct depending on which dictionary you’re reading. But I’m just wishing that I’d gone for the ‘spicy’… I must get a hobby or something…

It’s a Tea Pea Christmas!
Check out our wee Christmas tree adorned with candy canes and little wooden decorations that we bought at the Christmas markets in Berlin (whilst downing glu wine and pretzels a zillion years ago…). Today I found a gift under the tree from Meg and Scott from the super stylish Tea Pea. A beautiful paper heart garland made up of pages from old children’s books. So cute and a perfect complement to our decorations! If you haven’t checked out the Tea Pea site, do so immediately! Everything is made with love and the packaging and presentation takes things to a whole new level. We LOVE. And our tree looks loved now too.

Wee wooden toys zipping around the shelves

Speed boats
Kerin Dunshea, Craig’s very talented brother (who incidentally built the deli from the ground up, crafted all of the interior panelling and produced the yellow garden bench), has whipped up a few super fun wooden toys and we have them zipping around the shelves. Little boats and racing cars in red and blue and a lovely blue bus. The fabulous pink bus sold within minutes of going on display but I’m sure if you asked nicely… These will certainly make cute little gifts for for cute little people.
